Baton

Developer Tool / Shared Execution

A shared-machine execution coordinator that keeps coding agents from colliding over tests, desktop control, and global resources.

How it works

Baton wraps the shortest shared-machine section of a workflow: a heavy regression command, foreground application or Computer Use session, or operation that needs GPU or other global state. Repository inspection, editing, and isolated tests remain outside the lease.

The CLI exposes explicit acquire, renew, release, and run semantics. Recovery handles expired or interrupted leases, while monitoring makes current ownership and waiting state visible. Cooperating agents can wait for a busy machine instead of treating the lock as a failed build.

Keep the command contract small while improving recovery and visibility around expired or interrupted leases. This index documents the current tool without expanding into a rename or public product launch.
